What if you can’t write happy stories? What if your heroes don’t wear capes and fly above their sins? What if the best you can do is celebrate the small graces and quiet virtues of a single man or woman who goes to their grave unknown? When we first met our now adopted daughter she was so traumatized that she couldn’t sleep, follow directions or stop the swirling anxiety in her head. But now a few years later she’s able to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. They said she’d end up institutionalized but here she is picking dandelions for a moisture bar recipe from one of our favorite bloggers @calicoandtwine and making granola from Lea’s kitchen @ourlittlehouseonthemountain Our daughter gets so much goodness from Lea and Kaetlyn ! Thank you!

I used to be a vegan not for health reasons but because God gave animals gorgeous eyes (and I had seen every factory farm documentary). Then I got really sick and meat gave me back my strength. I moved to the country and tried to make peace with meat by raising and loving my animals before that one bad day came. But still I struggle when they look me in the eye. Not sure day to day if I will go back to a plant based diet but for now I sit on the fence and wonder.
